Poor Little Rich Girls.com is once again presenting a contest of local design houses to determine who has bragging rights to Chicago's most stylish. B-96's Showbiz Shelly will be on-hand as our ringleader while the boutiques contend, featuring five economical looks apiece. A panel of guest celebrity judges, including former Bachelorette Jillian Harris, Project Runway contestant Steven Rosengard, and Jessica Sedgwick, Fashion Editor for the Chicago Sun Times, will vote along with the audience to determine the winner.
Tickets are $25 general admission, $35 VIP. Include two hours of complimentary cocktails courtesy of Ultimate Vodka & PAMA liqueur, complimentary appetizers provided by HUB51, giveaways, swag bags and a chance to shop local fashions from Studio-808. VIP tickets include a reserved seat in designated VIP areas, champagne and deluxe swag bags. Space is limited!

Knitting Workshop 101 Hosted by Hanna Aitchison of L.A. Ink
Get a jump start on your gift giving for 2009 by learning a classic skill...knitting! There's a reason that everyone from Julia Roberts to your grandma all seem to love this old-school skill...it's relaxing and zen-like, and a great, portable art form: knitting is a great way to pass the time on airplanes, the el, sitting in the doctor's office waiting room or just chilling in front of Turner Classic Movies with a glass of wine (my personal favorite).
You'll love the feeling of being able to create your own beautiful gifts for loved ones or yourself, and once you've got the basics down there's no telling what you can do with it!! In this little introductory workshop, you'll learn basic casting on & off, and knit/purl stitches, as well as tips on how to use the basic stitches to create beautiful patterns and lace. Each participant will receive enough yarn for a small scarf, bamboo needles (they are way more fun to work with than metal or plastic!) and a little stitch and project booklet that will be yours to keep.
Please let us know if you are allergic to wool, and acrylic yarn will be provided as an alternative.

We will be making books using the simple technique of stab binding--a type of stitch that has been used in Japan for centuries. Find your Mom the perfect gift in a Mother’s Day Scavenger Hunt hosted by 6 of Chicago’s most innovative shops & galleries. The Architrouve, WolfBait & B-girls, Rotofugi, Quimby’s, Finch Gallery and Lotus Keep Gallery are holding a No Gas event Saturday May 10th from noon to 6pm, giving you the opportunity to walk, bike, skate or bounce your way through the neighborhoods in search of 6 items. 1 hidden item will be in each of the participating shops and each business will have clues within the space to help the scavengers find the item. After each scavenger finds an item they will have their card stamped (they pick up cards at the first business)…and then on to the next location!
Scavengers can start and end at any of the participating shops and galleries. Once they have a stamp from each business, they will leave their stamp card at the final business and who ever finds all six items will have the chance to win 1 of 6 fabulous prize packages, including original art, signed prints or gift certificates, to be raffled off at the end of the Hunt. You don’t have to be present at the raffle to win.We will contact you by the information left on the back of your stamp card. No purchase necessary to play. Details, map, rules and game cards available at any of the participating shops.
